A Path that Became a Stream

Recently I went on my summer holiday.

It was a one night stay in Kuju.

Kuju is a beautiful national park in Oita prefecture, Japan.

On the second day, we took a lovely walk around the base of the mountain.

It was a hot day and the walk was through a forest which gave us some wonderful shade from the heat.

During the walk I came across this amazing scene of a path that had become a river.

Recently we had torrential rain.

I think it was from this that the path turned into a river.

There were also a lot of large rocks that had rolled down the path which you can see in the foreground.

I took a photo and at home did a painting.

I am an Englishman living and painting in Japan. I have now been here for over 17 years and have been painting for all that time. I love to travel around the Japanese countryside and find beautiful places to paint.
