Watercolor Paintings of Rickshaws in Japan

Watercolor Painting of a Rickshaw

I really like this painting but it doesn’t seem quite right. So I tried to redo it.

Firstly, I did some sketches of rickshaws. They are difficult to paint – especially those large, elegant wheels.

Next I focused on painting skies. Here are some experiments.

And finally I started bringing it all together.

And I did some more dramatic ones.

I didn’t really manage to improve on the original painting. As usual, I got sidetracked. I really like though some of these other paintings I did. And at some point in the future I might try and redo that original painting.

Happy painting,

I am an Englishman living and painting in Japan. I have now been here for over 17 years and have been painting for all that time. I love to travel around the Japanese countryside and find beautiful places to paint.
