Brushes
Small flat brush 12 mm (½ inch)
Wide flat brush 25 mm (1 inch)
Watercolor paints (15ml tubes recommended)
Phthalo Blue (Red Shade)
However, if you have Ultramarine blue or some other dark blue color then that is fine.
Don’t use small tubes. I buy tubes that are at least 15 ml from the art shop. And nowadays I buy 60 ml tubes on Amazon.
Watercolor paper
Spiral bound pad recommended. F4 size.
My favorite paper is called Lamplight. Just make sure it is cotton rich paper and not a wood pulp one.
Palette
A cheap plastic one will do. If it has a lid then that is also good as you can use it for outdoor painting. And also when you finish painting you can close the lid and this will help keep the paints moist.
Water tank
The bigger the better as the water gets dirty quickly. Don’t get a tall bucket though as it’s hard to use if you’re going to sit down.
Rag/cloth.
You can get cleaning cloths from Daiso for a very cheap price.
Tissues
Spray bottle
Clips
You need two small clips to hold the paper down. You can buy a big box of these clips from Daiso.
Prop
Have something (such as a book) to put under the top end of your pad so that it is tilted.
